On Tolerance

A lot of my friends are posting on religion and tolerance at the moment. All I'm going to post are the words of Benjamin Disraeli from his novel Endymion.

"As for that," said Waldenshare, "sensible men are all of the same religion."
"Pray, what is that?" inquired the Prince.
"Sensible men never tell."

Which echos an anecdote that dates back to the 17th century attributed to Anthony Ashley Cooper

"People differ in their discourse and profession about these matters, but men of sense are really but of one religion." To the inquiry of "What religion?" the Earl said, "Men of sense never tell it"

And wouldn't it all be so much more peaceful if we stuck to that.
